This handmade soap combines three lightening agents-papaya extract, kojic acid and licorice root extract to promote a clear, smooth, and more even-toned complexion.  It produces a rich, creamy lather with the tropical scent of papaya and mangos.

Kojic Acid (Koji in Japanese) is a by-product in the fermentation process of malting rice and manufacturing of sake. It has antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, skin lightening properties and helps to repair signs of sun damage. The effect produced by Kojic acid lasts only as long as it is being used. Papaya contains a protein-dissolving enzyme called papain, which softens and breaks down layers of dead skin cells. This powerful enzyme cleanses the skin by dissolving dead cells from the skin’s surface, while leaving the new and healthy cells intact. These same enzymes are also known for fighting free-radical damage and reducing age spots & fine lines. Papaya also contains Vitamin A, which promotes skin repair and increases cell renewal.

Licorice Root Extract is known to inhibit the production of melanin, the substance that causes darkening of the skin and age spots. Licorice is said to be one of the most effective, natural ingredients for skin lightening.
